Women Empowerment

The partnership between ENCO and the Maasai women highlights the importance of fostering self-reliance and resilience within marginalized communities. Through this initiatives, ENCO aims to break the cycle of poverty by providing tools and resources that empower individuals to take control of their economic well-being.

Engaruka English Medium Primary School

ENCO through its Education program started a primary English medium school which aims to provide  quality education within Maasai societies due to limited chances of getting education especially to girls.

ENCO is a charitable, not-for-profit, Tanzania registered non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the livelihoods and well-being of vulnerable women and children of rural Maasai communities through  Education Environment, Health and economic empowerment programs . ENCO was founded in 2014 and operates in the Arusha region of Tanzania, particularly in Monduli, Ngorongoro and Longido districts. Though we focus primarily on women and children, we recognize that educating men is necessary for the well-being and empowerment of women and children. Consequently, we also provide educational services to men

Mission

Engaruka Community Initiative Organization (ENCO) is  dedicated to improving the livelihoods and well-being of members of rural Maasai communities through health, education, economic empowerment, and environmental programs.

Vision

ENCO strives to create & support healthy, educated, gender equitable, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable rural Maasai communities particularly in Monduli, Ngorongoro and Longido districts of Tanzania

ENCO recognizes the importance of compassion, trust, generosity, determination, honesty, and spirituality and supports these values in our daily lives.

EDUCATION

In pastoralist Maasai communities illiteracy rates are approximately 75% and women are the worst affected.

HEALTH

Improve The Health Of Vulnerable Women And Children.

EMPOWERMENT

Reduce poverty by improving the economic status of vulnerable women through income generating programs.

ENVIRONMENT

Restore degraded watersheds, forests and grasslands.
